Our Mission

The Harbor Choral Festival of Music exists to provide individuals and families a world class choral experience within an intensely concentrated five day vacation holiday environment.  The Festival regularly welcomes singers from thousands of miles away to enjoy Holland and the surrounding West Michigan community.

Its goal is to provide a tight time sensitive forum for the busy family and involve those adults and their children with musicians in a professional musical setting and to demonstrate to all participants the joy and thrill of singing which can be had continuously throughout life regardless of  age.

Additionally, it collaborates with other locally based non-profits to expose their venues and programs to the West Michigan community.

Background

The board believes July-August is ideally suited for the five day festival in that it does not compete with existing choral and orchestral opportunities.   A five day format allows vacationers and local families alike the opportunity to enjoy low cost educational/musical fun together with a great international conductor and composer.

We are honored in our tenth season to again look forward to  England's Jonathan Willcocks to direct The Harbor Choral Festival of Music, July 16-20, 2012.

The festival is a registered 501(c)(3) non profit.

Festival Advantage

Both adult and youth choristers learn from the same teacher providing a common experience in a world where even shared dinner times are seemingly difficult.   Adult and child learn and sing the music of the masters together.

Children gain valuable self esteem through performance and get immediate reinforcement throughout the five days.  They quickly see the results of their work in a final performance to the public.   This demonstrates what can be achieved in a short time through hard work.

Children sing their entire concert from memory, further reinforcing their skills.
